UTSAAMC recently made a historical trip to visit Shanghai UTS Alumni in China from 13-19 January 2007. The journey took us to three different cities including Hangzhou, Suzhou and our last stop in Shanghai.

BEING a university graduate two decades ago almost automatically meant securing a job but today the job market is so competitive that a degree is no longer a ticket to employment. This has lead to the rising number of unemployed graduates in Malaysia. There are some 90,000 school-leavers as well as college and university graduates who are currently unemployed.

The Malaysian Australian Alumni Council (MAAC) recently launched a song album to raise fund for projects. The album is entitled, “Australian University Alumni: Voices of Talent”. UTS Alumni President and MAAC Treasurer, David Tann, contributed his cover of “Copacabana” for this album. His song is one of the twelve songs contributed by various Australian universities including Curtin, RMIT, Victoria University and many more.

The Malaysian Australian Alumni Council (MAAC) recently organized The 70s Retro Party on 30 September in conjunction with the launch of its song album entitled, “Australian University Alumni – Voices of Talent” and UTS Alumni Michelle Leong, Tan Wei Seong, and Lim Shengtau were there.

The dance party was held at the famous Zest Club, Sunway Lagoon. A strong crowd of over 300 turned up for the coolest party of the year with wigs and baggy pants reminiscing the good old days.

UTS Alumni made history today when President, David Tann, chaired the important Extraordinary Council Conference (ECC) organized by the Malaysian Australian Alumni Council. The meeting was organized to pass resolutions that will be amended for the constitution.

Also present were all the Council Members consisting various Australian universities.

IT was an evening filled with sentimental moments and laughter for those who attended the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) alumni annual dinner at the Royal Selangor Golf Club recently.
