2. PLAN
...

The next stage in the process is to make some plans which state how you intend to make the improvements you have identified during the reflection stage. You may wish to develop planning documentation to help this part of the porcess along. Use this documentation to make a concise statement which sets out your strategies for personal development.

Setting SMART Objectives

When you plan for your future development, you should try where possible to set yourself SMART objectives.

  • SPECIFIC: can you say exactly what you intend to do?
  • MEASURABLE: will you be able to prove (to yourself, or others) that you have achieved your targets?
  • ACHIEVABLE: are your targets achievable in the time that you have set yourself?
  • REALISTIC: are your targets things you can realistically do something about?
  • TIME BOUND: can you achieve these targets within a reasonable time frame?
